Don't let the title fool you. While most
juice drinks are 10% juice, this is 10% sugar and 90% real
crabapple juice. Most fruit requires no sugar to taste good,
but tart crabapples do. And you can feel better about the
sugar as your kids enjoy this fruit juice drink.
6 cups crabapple juice
1 cup sugar
Blend juice and sugar in a blender. Bring
to a boil in a large stainless steel saucepan, stirring
occasionally to dissolve sugar. Pour into heated sterilized
quart or pint jars. Boil quart jars in boiling water for
10 minutes, pint jars for 15 minutes. Or, freeze in freezer
containers.
- You can substitute naturally sweet pineapple juice
for the sugar in this recipe.
- Or, you can replace the sugar with 1/4 cup fructose.
- For a drink with a health boost, grind 3-4 slices
ginger root into the boiling juice and sugar.
